Common questions

Epitalon — questions, answered plainly.

6 research-context questions about Epitalon. Answers stay neutral and reference what is published in the peer-reviewed literature — no dosing, no human-use guidance, no extrapolation beyond what the cited studies report.

  1. 01

    What is Epitalon?

Epitalon (also spelled Epithalon) is a synthetic tetrapeptide with the sequence Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly (AEDG). It has been studied in cellular ageing, gene-expression, and telomere-biology models. It is not an approved medicine and is not intended for human consumption.

  2. 02

    What is the AEDG sequence?

AEDG is the four-amino-acid sequence of Epitalon: alanine, glutamic acid, aspartic acid, glycine. The peptide's small size (390 Da) is part of why it is used in cell-biology comparison studies.

  3. 03

Has Epitalon been tested in controlled human trials?

No PubMed-indexed controlled clinical trials in humans were identified for this profile. Some human-observation literature exists but is concentrated in a narrow research network. Independent replication of the foundational findings is limited.

  4. 04

    Does Epitalon extend lifespan?

Anti-ageing and lifespan claims circulating outside the peer-reviewed literature are not supported by PubMed-indexed controlled human trials. Published research describes cellular ageing markers, telomere length changes in cultured cells, and rodent observations — not validated lifespan outcomes in humans.

  5. 05

    What is telomerase upregulation?

Telomerase is an enzyme that extends telomeres (the protective caps on chromosomes). Some Epitalon cell-line studies report increased telomerase (hTERT) expression in normal cells and ALT-pathway activation in cancer cells. These are mechanistic observations in controlled cell models.

  6. 06

What are the evidence caveats for Epitalon?

Much of the foundational rodent and human-observation literature comes from a single research group (Khavinson and colleagues). Independent replication is limited, and there are no PubMed-indexed controlled human trials.
